researches/projects
IN FEBRUARY 2022, WHILE I WAS PRESENTING A RESEARCH I WAS WORKING ON, DAVID NORSWORTHY, A DANCER/CHOREOGRAPHER AND ARTS EDUCATOR , ASKED ME : HOW COULD YOU INTRODUCE YOUR FIELDS OF INTEREST ?
Through the process of researching on various works I made, a specific space has self-structured over the years; thus becoming aware that what brought my research to exist, to be deepened, to question the generic definition of the word "art" was THIS space, entitled : an artistic practice.
Whatever the theme of the project, my practice has always been to address the following 3 questions in each of the creative processes evoked :
WHAT - HOW - WHY?
What is the "what" I want to investigate ? What is the zone I am looking for ? What do I target artistically speaking ?
How do I express this « what » through a performative context and how do I incorporate a physicality ?
Why is it important for me to stage the "what" in this way ?
Understanding my identity as a filter for my research had guided the content of my artistic practice and how it fit together : WHO/WHAT I AM will lead to WHAT I DO.
My interests within this practice are articulated in the simple act of embodying something that has no body yet such as a societal fact, a personal life experience, an aesthetic, etc.
The physical materiality of these unbodied elements proposes a functionality, a dramaturgical content, a narrative that I want to explore in relation with the cultural/social/political/sexual/functional body.
The physical outlets becomes content that generate visual narratives where various mediums (light design, sound, text, set design, costumes, installations, etc.) intersect.
Through a queer mindset and a non-binary logic, my practice operates as a body/laboratory within an underground poetic where I do question the tools, the systems, the processes, the mediums that activate the process of receiving for the audience : What do I see ? What do I get from this ? What does it make me think/feel ?
